New Jenkins Server

I just want to announce that our continuous integration server is now running Jenkins, and has been moved to its own IP address and new hardware.

This is now running on Ubuntu, and uses the latest Mono version (2.10).
We are also using the recently stable release of NAnt 0.91.

The purpose of the continuous integration server is to have a defined environment where builds must work without error or warning.

At the moment there are a couple of warnings due to the upgrade to Mono 2.10. We need to fix them soon.

If you want to be able to build your own branch on that server, you can register an account at ci.openpetra.org, and let me know that you like your own "job" there.

I hope we can soon integrate also NUnit tests on that build server.

could you give a brief overview what has changed or improved with the move to Jenkins?

A question on the build using the new mono 2.10: the logfiles state that NAnt uses the 'Mono 3.5 Profile'. On the Release Notes for Mono 2.10 (http://www.mono-project.com/Release_Notes_Mono_2.10#New_C.23_Compiler_Backend) they only list 2.0 and 4.0 Profiles as possible targets for the mono C# compiler - so which one is actually targeted (i.e. which compiler is used [gmcs or dmcs or mcs])?

Running all our NUnit unit tests on the build server would certainly be desirable. How much work would need to be put into that?

Well, Jenkins is the community driven fork of Hudson. Both projects continue to exist, but it seems that Jenkins is supported by the community.

Functionally, for us at the moment nothing has changed.
But I needed to move the server anyway, due to a contract running out on the old server.

Regarding the compiler: we are using the task nant.sourceforge.net/nightly/lat ... s/csc.html from NAnt.
You are right, we are not specifying the target framework, so the message can be misleading.
I think, that the gmcs is being used currently, because that was missing and I needed to install the package mono-gmcs. But I am not sure.

I have now added a job that compiles my c#4 test branch at Launchpad: code.launchpad.net/_tpokorra/op ... estCsharp4
ci.openpetra.org/job/OpenPetraBu ... /1/console
This does not seem to work yet.
