I am using ZNC as an IRC bouncer: http://wiki.znc.in/ZNC
ZNC is "an advanced IRC bouncer that is left connected so an IRC client can disconnect/reconnect without losing the chat session."
I am happy to create accounts for OpenPetra developers on my instance of the bouncer.
The URL to change your IRC channels is: https://znc.solidcharity.com
I will send you a user name and password.
To set this up with an IRC client, here is for example what you do with Hexchat:
Host: Instead of irc.freenode.net
, now use: znc.solidcharity.com/6030
User: instead of just your username, use username/freenode
, where freenode is one of the networks configured for you in your ZNC account. You can add other networks on https://znc.solidcharity.com
Password: instead of just your password, use username/freenode:mytopsecretpassword
. Again, freenode can be another network name as well.
