Actually I’ve made a first proposal about the handling of different currencies in Openpetra. Therefore I’ve pointed out some fundamentals (I18n). Important are the chapters (Global Program Parameters) and Numbers and Currencies.

And there is a detailed investigation of the database table a_currency (Multiple Currencies).

In both cases some decisions are necessary before we can contiune.

Thank you for posting more information about the I8N-translation process.

I'm still in doubt about one thing: What do you mean by "easy for translators (do they need the full IDE? poedit?)"?

I've been using poedit to start translation into Spanish.

But a volunteer translator told me that it would be too complicated for here to download poedit and the po-file, edit it and upload it again.
So I searched on the web for an easier way and I've found a possibility to convert po-files to Exel.

Hello Joachim,

It took me a moment to realize that this sentence "easy for translators (do they need the full IDE? poedit?)" was already on a very old version of that page in the wiki, and it was written by myself, long before we made decisions about which tools to use for translation.

I have now cleaned up some of the pages on the wiki related to translations, and mainly removed parts of sourceforge.net/apps/mediawiki/ ... Developers which used to have the title "HowTo help with Translation". It links now to your page "Documentation for Translators".

Wolfgang has added documentation about the formatting of currency values on that page "Comparison I18N", because it is related to i18n/localization.

Timotheus
